Website!

My website is now up and running!

Feel free to check it out here.

Happy Sunday! :)

Cape St Claire Spring Bazaar!

Matt and I had a blast at the first ever Cape St Claire Spring Bazaar hosted by CSC United Methodist Church! There was great food, wonderful vendors, an awesome DJ, a moon bounce (along with other kid-friendly activities), and heart-warming support from the community! All of which made it an event to remember:)

I was so moved and pleased by the feedback I got from many of the people who visited my booth at the bazaar. Everyone was so supportive and encouraging- I couldn't have asked for a better experience!

Regarding the set up of the table, we did it a little differently this time.

I'll start from the top:

The branches in the back with the twine strung between them and the Crinkly Critters hanging from the twine are two Pussy Willow branches Matt cut for me! I don't know if you can see it, but there are those little fuzzy things (buds maybe?) all over the branches. It looked wonderful! We just "bungeed" the branches to the back legs of the table and strung twine between the two. It acted as a "clothes line" and gave the table great height! It also freed up the red suitcase which I used to hold the wreaths instead of holding the Crinkly Critters like at the Liberty High Craft Fair.

I used the Tiered Trays to hold the hair clips and pins. And I also got to use my Jewelry Tree to display my necklaces and a Crinkly Critter or two!

Many people asked me if I am on Etsy, or have a website. As of right now it's just the blog (and email!), but maybe I should consider making a website of some sort! I was also asked by more than one person if I do any type of house parties or anything. Truth be told, one may be in the works... :D

Thanks again to everyone who visited my booth and came out to the CSC Spring Bazaar. It turned out to be a wonderful event and I hope it becomes a yearly tradition in the Cape!

Also a great big thank you to my dad!
And of course, Matt- you know you rock!

More things to come! I'll keep ya posted :)

Melamine "Tiered Tray" Tutorial

I have had these super cute Melamine plates for a while now. They are so cute and girly, but we I never get to use them because Riley is all boy and tough! Once I saw this tutorial over at Tatertots and Jello, I knew exactly what I would do with my super-cute girly plates.

Make tiered trays out of them!

How did I do it, you ask? It was easy-peasy! Take a look:

To make one tiered tray, you will need

  • 2 melamine plates
  • 1 candlestick holders
  • A pencil
  • E-6000 Industrial Strength Adhesive
First let me tell ya a little bit about my new boyfriend, E-6000.

This stuff right here is the OG of adhesives. It works on any and every thing (as long as you do it correctly, so read and re-read the directions!). And, get this, it is completely water-proof! So that means the new Melamine trays you are going to make will be top-rack dishwasher safe (or at least safe to wash by hand if you are afraid to wash them in the dishwasher.)
*Make sure you read the directions very well and only use E-6000 in a well-ventilated area!*

So gather your cutesy plates and your candlestick holder and let's begin!

Flip your candlestick holder upside down (the bottom/wide part of it should be on the underneath of the top plate). Here I am tracing the top part of the candlestick  holder where I want it to be on the bottom plate. Do this for both the top and bottom plate.

Put a thin line of glue just inside where you traced your circle.

And put a thin line of glue around the perimeter of your candlestick holder. (I glued the candlestick holder to the top plate first, but you can do it either way!)

Wait 2-10 minutes for the glue to "set" (my terminology, not sure exactly what word the directions say!), then press the candlestick holder firmly onto the plate.

Repeat the same steps for the other plate.

Then put something heavy on your tiered trays and let them dry in a room temperature, well-ventilated area or room for 24-72 hours (the longer you let it dry, the stronger the bond will be!)

Once the adhesive is dry, figure out what to use your new trays for!

Maybe to hold hair accessories in your room your daughter's room? ;) Or maybe office supplies on your desk?

To display desserts, such as cupcakes, at your next social gathering or party?

I may use this one to hold cupcakes at Riley's next birthday! (The "1," "2," and "3" are Picnik stickers!)

And the fourth one with the bowl on the top? I was thinking chips and dip! Dip in the bowl and chips on the plate underneath.

Well, there ya go! Told ya it was easy :)

Thanks for stopping by!

One Day Without Shoes [ButterNugget Style]

Today was One Day Without Shoes! Here is how Riley and I celebrated:

We got ready to go to a playdate barefoot.

We painted flower pots and planted seeds at a friend's house barefoot.

And we even watched a movie barefoot!:)

It was a beautiful 50-something degrees and rainy outside, so we did inside barefoot activities.

Hope everyone had a happy (and barefoot) One Day Without Shoes!:)

One Day Without Shoes T-Shirt Tutorial

Tomorrow is One Day Without Shoes! And as I told you in my previous post, I will keep you updated on what Riley and I do to celebrate ODWS!

This morning we made the t-shirts we are going to wear tomorrow. If you also want to make a ODWS t-shirt, here's how to do it:

You will need:
  • Paper to cover your work area
  • Your size t-shirt
  • Black and light blue fabric paint
  • Tape
  • The stencils (PDF found here under Sticker/Stencils tab)
  • A lot of card stock sheets
  • An x-acto knife (or a fancy cutter-outer machine which I do not own)
  • Tape
  • Foam brushes
  • Yours and your child(ren)'s feet (optional)
First, get ALL of your materials together and ready. You don't want to be running around getting stuff in the middle of your t-shirt project when wet paint and possibly young children are involved! ;)

Print out your stencils onto the card stock and cut out the black parts with an x-acto knife. (side note: I could not show this step in a picture because I absolutely suck at cutting anything out with an x-acto knife. I think it should probably be illegal for me to even use one it's so bad) :(

Then you will position and tape your stencil on to your shirt.

IMPORTANT: Before you paint, put a piece of card stock inside your shirt between the two places you plan on painting. This will keep any paint from leaking on to the other side of your shirt.

Using your fabric paint and foam brushes, paint the stencil design on to your shirt. *Then remove the stencil from the shirt ASAP before the paint begins to dry! You will not ruin your design when you do this! If you wait until it dries, the paint will act as glue and some of the paper will come off on to the paint and you will not be able to get it off!!*

This is the FRONT of Riley's shirt.

The same design is on the BACK of my shirt.

Let the paint dry.

If you want to have a design on both sides, then flip your shirt over and paint your design on the back. Peel off the stencil.

And if you want a foot print on your shirt, paint your foot with fabric paint, then stick it on your shirt really good and peel it off. Then wash all the paint off your foot. ;)

Riley and I will be wearing our "foot-print shirts" tomorrow in celebration of One Day Without Shoes! I hope you can celebrate with us, too:)

 P.S. Peep my new siganture^!:D

Jewelry Tree

In trying to find a cool way to display my necklaces at craft shows/fairs, I came across this tutorial over at Hope Studios. I did mine a little different, though...

You will need:
  • Some branches (I have 4 to give it a more symmetrical look)
  • Spray paint in your choice of color (I used white)
  • A wide-mouth mason jar or a vase (I got the mason jar for this project from Michaels)
  • Rocks, gravel, marbles, something heavy (I used rocks, sea glass, and other stuff Riley and I have found at our community beach)
  • A piece of ribbon to tie the branches together
So first I went outside and found my branches. Then I stuck them into the ground and spray painted all the sides white and let them dry all the way.

Once they were dry I brought them in and arranged them how I wanted them to look and tied them together tightly with the ribbon.

Then I put the bottom of the branches into the jar and added the rocks/sea glass/other stuff all around them (this keeps the branches secure in the jar and makes the jar bottom-heavy so it doesn't tip over).

Then I hung my stuff up!:D

It's so easy, and rather customizable! I did mine on a smaller scale than the one over at Hope Studios, but you can do yours as big or small as you want! You can also paint the branches any color, or use a different jar/vase. Make it your own. Just make sure you pick sturdy branches that will hold the stuff you plan on hanging;)

Thanks for stopping by!:)

Until next time, toodles!

P.S. This would be so cute as an Easter tree with some Egg ornaments and maybe some paper butterflies adorning it! I may do that the week before Easter... hmm... I'll post pictures if I do!

I got some butterflies from Michael's and put them on! I think the butterflies are a cute touch and will look great along with the necklaces and Crinkly Critters I'll be displaying at craft fairs!:)
